So this year I'm living at 200 Water Street (or what we call "Water") and it's a huge dorm located right across from the South Street Seaport and not too far from Wall Street. If you're not familiar with NYC geography, I'm at the bottom of the island of Manhattan, about 20 minutes by bus away from school. It's quite a hike, but the general rule of thumb at NYU is that the farther away the dorm, the nicer. This is the last year that Water will be open, so I'm glad I'm getting to experience before it's no more. I'm living with my friend, past roommate, and now current RA, Aleja, as well as another girl, Allison (I can't seem to get away from people with my name!). So that we each get our own bedroom, I'm living in the common room, which is actually really awesome because I end up getting more space than anyone else, though in doing so, I forgo the benefits of a door. Oh, and we have a dishwasher, which is really exciting! I just taught Allison how to use it a couple of days ago. I'm still not finished decorating and stuff yet, but I'll put up pictures when I am. Until then, enjoy (and be jealous of) my view, it's the best part!
View from my bed:
This is what I wake up to every morning:
And the view at night is pretty good too:
This is what I see if I look directly across from my window. You can pretty much see right into the offices and vice versa. I keep hoping to see something juicy, but so far, it's only been a bunch of meetings:
